Steve Falen, MD, PhD, Medical Director
Steve Falen, MD, PhD joined Northern California PET Imaging Center in February, 2006 as Medical Director. He previously served as Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET Services at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia and prior to that, he was the Director of PET Imaging at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Falen received his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York, Syracuse, New York, and his post-graduate training was at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland and Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Falen has authored books, book chapters, and numerous journal articles, papers and abstracts on a wide range of subjects, including nuclear medicine, PET imaging, orthopedics, cardiology and radiopharmaceuticals. Dr. Falen is Board Certified in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Elma Abella, MD, PET Physician
Elma Abella, MD is currently on staff at Northern California PET Imaging Center in Sacramento, California. During her 15-year tenure, she has published numerous papers and abstracts on the subject of clinical PET. Dr. Abella received her Doctor of Medicine degree at The University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines, and later in her post-graduate training she was the Chief Resident Nuclear Medicine, at University of California Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, California. Dr. Abella is Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine, with her special talents in oncologic nuclear medicine, PET and PET/CT.
